Arizona Republic:
Alice Cooper announced a golf tournament on Friday that might make others green with envy. Against the backdrop of the Arizona Biltmore Golf Course, Cooper talked about the First Annual Alice Cooper Celebrity Golf Tournament at the Biltmore. 'I would like this to be the pro-celebrity-amateur tour,' said Cooper. 'And I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be.' The four-day event takes place Feb. 20-23 and matches amateurs with celebrities such as Leslie Nielsen, Andre Agassi, the Baldwin Brothers, Lou Gossett Jr., Mac Davis and many others who have been invited to the event. 'I have total respect for people putting together tournaments now,' Cooper said. 'I'll never call up again the day before an event and say I can't make it.' ... The tournament includes a soiree at Planet Hollywood, a Gala Awards Banquet at the Biltmore and a televised celebrity shoot-out. All proceeds go to benefit the Solid Rock Foundation, formed two years ago to build a teen activity center. 'We want to build a safe place for teens to go,' said Cooper, who is expecting $200,000 from the tourney, which should go to build a 20,000-square-foot facility complete with a concert hall, basketball court, gym and coffeehouse. 'We looked for what was needed for kids, and this is what we discovered was needed.' "

Oct 19th '97 Glen Buxton passes away in Clarion, Iowa

The Official Press release:

Glen Buxton, 49, one of the founding members and the lead guitarist of the original Alice Cooper group, died of complications from pneumonia on Sunday, October 19, 1997 at at a hospital in Clarion, Iowa.

Buxton was the co-writer of such rock n' roll classics as "School's Out," "I'm Eighteen," and "Elected," and played lead guitar on seven albums by the Alice Cooper group including the chart-topping "Billion Dollar Babies."

Alice Cooper said, "I grew up with Glen, started the band with him, and he was one of my best friends. I think I laughed more with him than anyone else. He was an under-rated and influential guitarist, a genuine rock n' roll rebel. Wherever he is now, I'm sure that there's a guitar, a cigarette, and a switchblade nearby."

Oct 20th '97 Alice sees The Rolling Stones at the Globe, Boston. He went backstage but didn't meet the band.

Oct 21-24th '97 Alice does a signing sessions at 'Spooky World' in Berlin, Mass. before returning to Phoenix. He tries to find a way to get to Glen's funeral but it proves impossible.

In Merrillville, a member of the audience pulled the Ethyl dummy into the crowd and it lost it's wig. This lead to the bizarre site of Alice singing to a bald Ethyl

Dec 31st '97 Detroit, MI State Theater

As a special treat In Detroit, he sang 'Jailhouse Rock' at 12 midnight in the encore while wearing dark sunglasses and a silver jacket with the collar turned up over a University of Michigan Jersey.  Clones and Desperado were also added to the setlist.
Brian Nelson ( August 1998): During a rehearsal, Alice started doing a little Elvis dancing in between songs. Derek Sherinian started playing Jailhouse Rock and the rest is history.

May 22nd '98 London XFM Interview aired.

May 1998, Alice played more dates, still basically in support to the live album. The shows started in London, preceded by a couple of days rehearsal at the Astoria. The first date was set to be Sunday the 24th of May. Unfortunately, Ryan Roxie had to pull out of the tour and so this date was canceled so as to give returning guitarist Pete Freezin more time to get ready. Tracks rehearsed but not normally performed included 'Clones', 'Lullaby', 'He's Back' (performed in Sweden in place of 'Public Animal No. 9') and 'Some Folks'.
Band lineup was Pete Friesen, Reb Beach, Jimmy DeGrasso, Eric Singer and Paul Taylor.

The Show was basically the same as the previous years US Rock And Roll Carnival show, but it had the additional tracks 'Steven' and 'Jailhouse Rock' (with Alice doing his best Elvis impressions in a silver jacket and shades!).

At the end of the later shows on the tour, when introducing the band, Alice started introducing himself as Ginger Spice of all-girl pop act The Spice Girls.

They also had a new snake for the European dates, Lady Macbeth, supplied by Scots Sickthing Bill Crowe. She was a 10' female Boa Constrictor, 8 years old, captive bred in Scotland and weighed in at 25 lbs. The name was kept for the US tour snake as well. This same snake was re-used on the 'Bare Bones' UK shows in 2003.

Also in attendance over the LA four nights were Bob Ezrin, Steve Hunter and Fred Mandel.
Band Line up now Reb Beach, Pete Friesen, Todd Jensen, Paul Taylor and Eric Singer. - It's unclear exactly which show Paul replaced Derek Sherinian. Derek definitly played the show on July 23rd. Taylor was in the band by this show. My guess would be Taylor was back on August 6th as there was a gap between shows just before that allowing for rehearsals.

Aug 19th '98 Hollywood, CA House of Blues

From muzic.com...
The star of the show at Alice Cooper's three-night sold-out run at L.A.'s House Of Blues wasn't the band, or the audience -- which was made up of such luminaries as John Lydon, Brian May, Rob Zombie, Lemmy [Most nights], Paul Stanley, and Ace Frehley. Nope, it was Cooper's boa constructor. It seemed the poor pet couldn't, how you say, "hold it" any longer during the maestro's set, and peed all over the stage. The band seemed determined to ignore the incident, except there was so much snake urine that they kept sloshing and sliding around, so they had to stop the show while three members of the road crew did a fast clean-up. According to Cooper's management, this is the first time that any of the snakes ever stole the show in this particular manner . . .

The Line-up was: Pete Freezin' and Stef Burns on Guitars, Eric Singer on Drums, Lindsay Vannoy on Keyboards and Todd Jensen on Bass. A reputable(and undisclosable, don't ask, but he ought to know) source suggests the band discovered Vannoy "...couldn't even play the keyboards like during the second show of the tour." He claimed that Lindsey's tech was the one who played "behind the scenes."
