Re: BSB 50th anniversary 2cd / 3 lp out in March
I've got two vinyl copies of Billion Dollar Babies , but none of the more recent reissues. And I've got the deluxe CD. Still might go for this. Will need to think it over. So far, I'm feeling the same way. I have bought BDB five times over the years ; Vinyl in 1975 and 1979. Cassette in the late 80...

Re: Saxon -From The Inside
I seldom listen to Saxon so probably not a good judge of what they do nowadays. What I liked was the unusual choice and the fact that it is similar to the original but much more a rocker now. Very true...kind of an obscure tune to cover and most bands would have gone with the usual suspects which h...

Re: The Beginning of the Comeback of Alice Cooper (1986)
I certainly was looking forward to this period. I liked CONSTRICTOR well enough; nothing classic, but nothing horrid either. It was nice to see so much press on him around this time; RIP did a nice job, METAL EDGE seemed to have articles on him every issue and a great article in CREEM in early 1987 ...

Re: Alice Cooper @ 75
I was on vacation last week and read it and must say...VERY impressed. There are some errors on dates (as noted by other members, especially the hanging photo) and I find it odd LIFE AND CRIMES OF Alice Cooper not listed in the timeline. I also would have liked to have a part that details something ...

Re: The Marketing of Alice Cooper
I don't believe he's been marketed well. The trick is to try to be objective about it, which is difficult for me as a huge fan since 1972. Maybe he really isn't in the same class as David Bowie...but I'll never believe it! I'm surprised how few performance videos, other than live clips, have ever b...

Re: The Lace and Whiskey Era
LAW was a big disappointment when I got it new...ALICE COOPER GOES TO HELL had been bland enough and it looked like He was just continuing that same path. These days, while it's not of his better albums, I find I enjoy putting it on. The whole first side is all decent rock-nothing exceptional, but n...

“Every pill went directly into their mouth no questions asked”. Everyone seems to be aware of the excesses in the industry especially during those days. It seemed expected. My question is was there anyone in your sphere that raised a voice of caution or flat out said let’s not be stupid here becaus...

Re: Relive One Great Gig
Thanks Dr. D., I thought that maybe one of your later band incarnations may have played at DAR. I saw SRV a couple of times plus Air Supply (sponsor tix). Lou Reed played there also. I've read your book (Thanks!) I just didn't remember that detail. You are a very welcome addition to this site. :cla...

David Duchovney covers 'Billion Dollar Babies' at a gig at the at Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow, Scotland on November 7th, 2023! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yCpbV5tEkQ Isn't that the truth :bam: ! Re: Another "Halo Of Flies" question
Thanks for getting your buddy to look back to the original albums. The re-issues of Killer and School's Out sound great, especially the bass. As for the Moog, I wrote about it but I'm not sure that it made the final edit in my book. The Moog arrived at the studio, we opened the box, and I looked at...

Another "Halo Of Flies" question
Hi Mr Dunaway, I have a friend who loves 80's "Hair Metal" and likes the Alice material from that time, mainly the CONSTRICTOR and TRASH albums . After my telling him for a couple of years he do himself a favor and look into the ACG albums, He bought KILLER and while we were discussing it. He said h...
