Re: Goes To Hell album cover

I remember when GTH came out, the local independent record shop had a massive display of this sleeve covering half the shop window. You could not miss it. Those were the days when an AC release was an event of some magnitude. Shame we didn't get to see a new show and had to wait for the gangster chi...

Let's hope he comes good. I am sure there is enough stuff to tell without crossing any boundaries.

Re: Alice jigsaws

I'd also like the Hanging from the Killer album or the Group picture in their white suites from the BTB cover. Hundreds of potentials but as Dannorama says, great idea. Like the WTMN one

Re: Duane Hitchings

Following on from Mr. Barlow's question. The two sides of SF are quite different, almost like 2 different records. Was side 1 just stuff they felt worthy of release but wasn't ready from FTF and just used to 'make' a complete lp. In English what I think I am trying to ask is why wasn't side 1 'new' ...

Just thank Mike for his contribution to the Alice story. Special Forces was the first tour I saw and that band will always be special to me

Re: Live at Glasgow '82 - 2lp RSD 20202

I also saw Alice live for the very first time on this tour at the Hammersmith Odeon as it was then. The excitement I felt when the lights grew dim and the music started and the man appeared .... a wow moment for me. After almost 10 years of being a fan this was the real deal. Hidden in my old tape c...

Re: The Making Of Easy Action

I think EA has some pleasant easily accessible tunes on it, more so than PFY and showed a good progression in the song writing. Hold onto your hats for what was coming next

Re: Have you changed your mind?

I remember being quite enthused during the build up to release of ACAS. The concept was interesting and the snippets wetted my appetite. How disappointed was I when spinning it for the first time on its release. Despite subsequent re-listens in the early days I just could not bring myself around to ...

Re: Have you changed your mind?

Excellent post Si. Perhaps the creative tension between MB and BE brought out the best in both but by the time MOL came along they had both had enough. Seem to recall a strange relatively recent comment from MB regarding his level of contributions to recent AC albums saying something like .... " I o...

Lou Reed - Rock and Roll Animal

Listening to this again after a good while. Love this album, particularly the fabulous guitar work by Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter which would obviously be seen on WTMN shortly afterwards. I am sure it is obvious to the more informed but can anybody please confirm who is left channel and who is righ...

Re: SCHOOLS OUT TOTP QUESTION

Remember that TOTP, it was what got me into Alice in the first place Slightly off topic, but just watched Super Duper again, first time in a good while. Noticed some familiar names in the credits this time so thanks to Andy and Si (Sickthings) for their contributions . Despite the occasional raging ...

Wagner would have been an interesting choice though Bruce felt he had zero stage presence.
I remember that from Mike somewhere in the distant past. I suppose if Mashbir was an old mate of sorts the transition might have been less painful when replacing Glen.

Re: The Beach Boy-i-fication of the the bad.

Id have preferred to take my chances with the original line up plus a new guitarist. This is an option I have often deliberated over. But who?. With Dick Wagner they might have added not only an excellent guitarist but also another contributor to the songwriting effort. Not sure though if internal ...

Re: Paris Special 82

Will always have a soft spot for this era as the 'Special Forces' tour was the first tour I saw Alice live in concert. Looking at this now, Alice was in a shocking state but I remember enjoying seeing him at last having followed him for 10 years after seeing him on Top Of The Pops doing School's Out...

Re: 4 new albums announced

Alicefan, not sure what you mean here. There are a number of important elements to the 'music' you listen to and the engineering, arrangements, mixing and overall production are all key elements. The 'music' you hear is a combination of all these elements and of course the raw material. Poor use of ...

Re: Why Was Alice's Voice Buried?

Remember at the time a local radio station played it a lot and during one popular late night show the DJ played it twice (consecutively) saying that his wife loved it. Certainly seemed to appeal to a new audience whilst at the same time alienating a number of long standing fans.

Re: Dragon town revisited

Found BT a rewarding but strangely exhausting album to listen to. It is a real 'in your face' affair. DT as stated by others seems to be a what's left over and some new stuff type of effort. There are some likable numbers such as Triggerman and the title track but others including the turgid Disgrac...

Theatre Of Death Bluray

Just watching the show again, first time in a long while. Not sure if my disc is duff but you can barely hear Keri Kelli. Damon's efforts are clear as are Chuck's as are Mr. Cooper's vocals but very little sound coming from Kerri. seemingly very low in the mix or so it seems as I said, almost inaudi...
