From the Inside
With the 40th anniversary of FTI coming up this year, it would be fabulous if it was given a remastered release with bonus tracks. As some claim that the CD is virtually over, many of these reissues on CD sound phenomenal, e.g.- McCartney's reissues. Of course it's highly unlikely to happen, but who has the rights now? Rhino? Rhino has done a meticulous job with reissuing The Monkees albums, just wish Alice would get a sonic upgrade. "No Tricks", "All Strapped Up", & some live cuts from the Madhouse Rocks tour could be included. Just wistfully wishing.

Re: From the Inside
I've bought some spec-ed film soundtracks and some of the companies have done a storming job w/ what they've dragged out the archives, i'd love to see someone put the effort in for rock albums, especially something like FTI which is one of my fave Coop albums. even just a well done expanded inlay booklet w/ some cool liner notes would be appreciated.

Re: From the Inside
From The Inside would make for a great deluxe cd package. Retain all the cool packaging features, give it a faithful remaster and find some decent live tracks from the tour. I'd buy it.
Re: From the Inside
Yes please!! FTI is so good, more people need to hear it!
Re: From the Inside
I remember seeing on PBS Alice, Bernie, & some guy on piano...they played Millie & Billie & I think there was another song they did that didn't make the album...I think it was on just after the album was released

Re: From the Inside
Was all strapped up ever done as a demo/studio track or was it just a live creation, i must confess i have never heard it (although heard allot of it)
I wish this album and others had deluxe reissues but alice just doesnt seem interested in pursuing them. I appreciate he would rather "get with the now" but nothing wrong with giving love the old and new.

Re: From the Inside
As has been mentioned many times it's nothing to do with Alice. If a record company asked him to be involved with a reissue I'm sure he'd be happy too do whatever they wanted, but he has no power to get it started as he doesn't own the masters.Saint&Sinner wrote:I wish this album and others had deluxe reissues but alice just doesnt seem interested in pursuing them. Rhino rides out a Monkees faze every so often. RIP Davey
I believe WB acquired Rhino many years ago & they've been dipping in the archive ever since.
Maybe they should celebrate a Master by dusting off the old WB Masters!

So if the management called the owners of the music they would just hang up the phone? I call BS on this.Si wrote:As has been mentioned many times it's nothing to do with Alice. If AC wanted to do it I'm sure they would have a look at the sales figures and decide if it was worth their (The record company's) while, paying out their money to produce it. If they saw a big enough return then it might go ahead, but it's questionable that they would.

Re: From the Inside
If this gets re-issued I would like to see something like an all new 5.1 mix of the album. DVD audio so you can get surround sound mix/new 2.0 mix/original flat transfer along with what ever bonus tracks may be lying about and maybe even a live show. Original tapes from the San Diego show - since that Sound Factory DVD sound track was so poor, would be a treat. And after that they can knock out a coloured vinyl version since people seem to like those, although to replicate the original die cut album cover may be a bit too much to ask for.
Re: From the Inside
I would be very surprised if we ever got a surround sound of any album (have any ever been done in the past ?). A new mix may be interesting, depending on who did it. Bonus tracks and a decent sounding live gig would be great. I'm sure coloured vinyl would be most welcome by fan-boys and hipsters

B$B and WTMN were done as DVD-A's with surround sound (and are excellent).ianmac wrote:I would be very surprised if we ever got a surround sound of any album (have any ever been done in the past ?).
MoL came out as a quad remaster on Audio Fidelity a few years ago.
And of course B$B and MoL came out as Quad versions when they were first released in the 70s.

Maybe they could mix out all those soppy background vocals.
Re: From the Inside
I’d forgotten about the DVD-As, bought them when they were released but never been able to hear them properly although I have been able to covert them to 2 channels to at least give me an idea of how they sound. And did get the AUdio FIdelity release of MOL but haven*t been able to hear the quad version (other than hearing another ‘converted’ version). And yes, I’m well aware that BDB and MOL were released as quad back in 73/74. What I really meant to ask was do we really expect any work to be done on past releases to convert them to quad or surround sound - that is something I don’t expect to see. Do we think there’d be a demand for them ?Si wrote:B$B and WTMN were done as DVD-A's with surround sound (and are excellent).ianmac wrote:I would be very surprised if we ever got a surround sound of any album (have any ever been done in the past ?).

I'm pretty sure that if you just put the DVD-A disc in a normal dvd player they default to a 2-channel stereo mix anyway..ianmac wrote:I’d forgotten about the DVD-As, bought them when they were released but never been able to hear them properly although I have been able to covert them to 2 channels to at least give me an idea of how they sound.Si wrote:B$B and WTMN were done as DVD-A's with surround sound (and are excellent).ianmac wrote:I would be very surprised if we ever got a surround sound of any album (have any ever been done in the past ?).

I would love a Blu ray audio reissue in 5.1
Allot of bands are doing this and the results can be stunning.
Bryan adams reckless sounds phenominal, the who quadrophenia equally sounds great.
Tears for fears, marrilion
And yes the 5.1 alice welcome to my nightmare /billion dollar babies are great.
Welcome to my nightmare is the definitive version for my money. Especially steven. goosebumps just thinking about it!
There is definitely demand for this type of thing i just hope alice/warner/rhino realize and give it some love.

The other guy was Bruce Roberts, the co writer. A snippet is on one of the DVDs, Super Duper I think.rtbuck wrote:I remember seeing on PBS Alice, Bernie, & some guy on piano...they played Millie & Billie & I think there was another song they did that didn't make the album...I think it was on just after the album was released
