Strange case & the joker ?????

Post by gallus » Tue Jul 14, 2009 12:16 am

Maybe this has been noticed before but was watching the version of "serious" on the strange case live vid the other day then watched the Dark knight batman DVD, the phrasing when Heath Ledger starts saying "why so serious" recounting how he got his smile is seriously similar....

in interview seem to remember Cristian Bale also makes reference to Ledger's portrayal of the Joker having elements of Alice.

another mention here...

sorry if this is a common observation but def an uncanny similarity / coincidence ???

cheers

:alice: Yes.....Alice is everywhere..and only we fans notice it.
I saw Alice in Ledger. And if Im not mistaken...there is a line in the movie "A Knights Tale" that makes you think of Alice.
There are many "Alice refrences" by people who secretly love him. :rotfl:

Well, if Christian Bale said that Ledger's Joker had elements of Alice Cooper then I would be inclined to believe that because Bale played Batman and would know.

There are often elements of Alice Cooper in pop culture but not everyone admits to it. For example, many people would probably not realize there are some similarities between Madonna and Alice Cooper and if pointed out, they would probably not believe it. But one also has to consider that during Alice's early 70s heyday, Madonna was a Teenager....living in Detroit....so she would have had to be much more aware of him than people may realize...She's the age where a lot of her friends would have been huge Alice Cooper fans back in the early 70s and had his posters all over their walls and listened to his albums constantly....

Sorry - Not to get picky, but I don't think that was Christian Bale's comment. It appears to be a quote from a review written for the New Yorker.

I am, however, a fan of the idea that Alice has had a visible and monstrous influence on many performers out there today. Let's face it. He's influenced each of us in a way. Why can't celebrities be included? They're as normal as any of us.
