This 25 minute live album is fantastic and shows how hungry the band was.

Many of the albums I love clock in at under 30 minutes. The above is a great example of one.

The sound on this one is very good if I remember. Anyone know the story behind it? Was this the full set? Where they supporting anyone? To be honest I have a hard time listening to those first two albums so I am not as versed as I should be.

Slapping myself on the head for not checking in the albums section first. Reading that now.

"This is called BB on Mars......it's about a BB...........on mars?"
Man, I hate this album and I hate Pretties For You and to a lesser degree Easy Action. But glad someone likes the stuff.
I remember the first time I brought pretties for you and easy action on the school days Vinyl (without knowing anything of them, this was mid 90's I guess) Wow did I get a shock and not a pleasant one! hahahaha, really not my thing.

My first exposure to Pretties and Easy Action was through School Days. At the time I liked it a lot as it was just insane. I remember me and some friends being in hysterics at 10 Minutes Before The Worm. Nowadays I find those albums painful.

Just tried listening in small bite s to Live At The Whiskey and it is hard to stomach. Probably the only interesting thing is hearing Alice talk to the audience unlike the scripted Alice in concert.

I think School Days charted top 30 in the UK. Which is pretty impressive for a double album of previously released material.

I think the cover did it : such a cool artwork of band and snake ! after I had B$B and then LITD , I found this double album. Must say it took me some time to like Easy Action (Mr and Mss Demeanor, Shoesalesman e.g.) whereas I never got to like Pretties.. Think if Schooldays would have been my first Alice Album, not sure if I would have been here...
But now it's kind of interesting to see/hear where everything started and we know the story behind it..
Live at the Whiskey is more kind of addition to my collection.
you really wouldn't understand..

I like the Schooldays album and also the Whisky album.
You hear the band evolving into great musicians.

I feel the opposite Mestreech. They were a tight little unit when they were doing Hitch Hike etc and then they just went sloppy trying to out Zappa Zappa! Alice didn't really sound like Alice at that time either. I remember being shocked years later that it was Mike singing Beautiful Fly away and not Alice. I couldn't tell them apart. Thank God for the meeting with Ezrin as another album in the vein of the first two would surely have spelled curtains. Only Return Of The Spiders ( horrible production aside ) gave an inkling of what was to come.

stand with pitkin on this ( beautiful fly way) . Even Shoesalesman could have been sung by MB
the typical Alice voice partially comes through imo on Mr and Mss Demeanor.
you really wouldn't understand..

This period is fascinating to me. I love hearing the band raw and unpolished. There are some great moments on Easy Action, the hint of theatricality to come on Still No Air, the Sabbath style riff in Lay Down and Die, Goodbye. Shoe Salesman is a very sweet song.
