And Blu-Ray is also 4.1 (it doesn't use the centre speaker).

Now that’s the right atmosphere for a gig. Great energy, great band, great filming and great overall. New album, on Friday, band meeting last night and this today. A real treat.

Well I punted for the box set and included tat but luckily I did get the blu ray! I think it's great and definitely superior to most live releases for some time.
4.1 is a bafflingly odd choice which sounds fine but seems odd to not mix it in standard 5.1 set up with vocals in the middle and guitars split as left, right and middle. Drums rolling on the top and bass rumbling away on the subs with crowd in the rears. Still as baffling as the choice was, it doesn't ruin it and is a great live show I enjoy quite allot, I can see this getting regular rotations on the OLED

Watched this last night and I have to say its up there with Trashes The World and Live at Montreux as my favourite recordings. The sound and production on it is fantastic, miles better than the more recent recordings. Band on top form. Brilliant!

box set delayed, so I'm still waiting...
tbh, the Paris blu ray is what I'm most looking forward to!

Just watched Dwight Fry again. Simply excellent.

The show was great, and I'm glad it's out and I'm very happy to have a show I was at released professionally, but I'm a little disappointed in the color grading and contrast. Some of the hues were toned down, and it's a shame. I guess it's a style choice (or was there a technical problem, which would explain the delay in the release?).
The reds and oranges are completely desaturated and it doesn't look like what I remember. Here are the pictures I took that night for reference:

As you can see from the color pics, the show was actually very colorful (not as much as the last tour, but a lot more than the Brutal Planet tour for example) and I wish the DCD capture was a little more faithful to the whole experience. Small complaint, but a complaint nonetheless.
Oh, I'll still watch it a thousand times, don't get me wrong.

I think the colours on the Blue Ray look great, on an OLED anyway. The darker colour tone suits that type of screen. It is definitely now my favourite concert video release (even alongside TTW and BL) just because of how good it looks.
Does anyone know if the last tour was pro shot? I would love to see that get the same Blu Ray treatment. I promise I wont bitch about a box set again if it does

I immediately noticed this too. It's an artistic choice.ech wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 10:42 pmThe show was great, and I'm glad it's out and I'm very happy to have a show I was at released professionally, but I'm a little disappointed in the color grading and contrast. And typical of modern movie/concert releases these days....
Re: A Paranormal Evening At The Olympia Paris DVD / Blu-Ray release
I finally received my box set and finally got to watch the concert. It is EXCELLENT! It is filmed very well. Alice and the band sound great! The highlight song for me is Halo Of Flies. Amazing.

Re: A Paranormal Evening At The Olympia Paris DVD / Blu-Ray release
box set arrived today. went straight to the blu ray
Terrific stuff. Makes it even more weird that it wasn't relesed at the same time as the audio version.
imo - all things considered; easily the best concert film Alice has released
audio and video are top notch (as someone above said - the colours aren't faithful to how it looks in real life, but that is an artistic choice, which more bands go for these days. I don't know why, but...)
venue is superb, the gig is well filmed and edited, and the set list has a nice balance of heavy hitters and "deep cuts".
Wish Brutally Live had this production value

Anyone in Canada still waiting on their box set from Amazon? This is ridiculous. I contacted them and it’s really out of their hands, as the distributor has not notified them on any update.
I tried contacting the distributor but no response. I was hoping there would be some kind of update at this point. I’m concerned with how delayed this is going to be...

Re: A Paranormal Evening At The Olympia Paris DVD / Blu-Ray release
That's just par for the course for Amazon in Canada. I pre-ordered two releases dropping today; one of them is in stock but Amazon has no shipping date for it, and the other Amazon says they have no idea when they're getting it.
This happens pretty much every couple of weeks for me. Can't comment on this specific release as I cancelled my Amazon pre-order (since it hadn't shipped) and went to buy the regular CD at a record store.

Convinced this was optimised for oled and probably qled as i am not feeling the complaints (or minor bug) at all about the colours. It looks fricken fantastic on oled
