The Swedish snake saga continues.. After finding a snake for Saturday's show it now appears the owner has withdrawn due to all the 'media pressure' the story has created! Fear not though as yet another snake is now in the picture and the owner has requested not to have his name released. Will or won't Alice actually have a snake tomorrow? We'll have to wait and see. Following on from the recent Swedish stories following Alice's search for a snake to use at Saturday's show it seems the Swedish Board of Agriculture has now stepped in with fears that the snake will feel "stressed" during the show. They have declared that while there is no ban on using the snake they don't think it is "suitable". Surely they are about 30 years to late to worry about it now! There are three articles you can check out (in Swedish of course) at Aftonbladet, Nyheter (with a photo of the snake in question) and SverigesRadio.

Lots of sites have picked up on Alice's comments in the Fuse video the other day about 'Mumford and Sons' but seem to have purposely missed the point of what Alice actually said, claiming Alice was "slamming" them and 'The Lumineeers'. If you actually listen he did nothing of the sort. He simply pointed out they weren't rock and roll bands. He actually stated they were very good at what they did, just that it wasn't rock. Unfortunately that isn't interesting enough for these "journalists" so they have just reported what they wanted to hear.

“We, along with a hand full of others, over the years, through our art, like music itself…left images for the world that will live on forever.”
“The music from those days is the soundtrack to so many, many lives and the images associated with those songs and images have become an important part of ourselves.”
– Ernie Cefalu, Pacific Eye and Ear Creative Director, and, Owner of the world’s largest, original, Rock & Roll album cover art collection
Amazingly, more than 40 years later, these sentiments from legendary creative director and iconic graphic designer, Ernie Cefalu, still ring true - perhaps louder than ever. Even more incredible, on July 15th at Gallery 13 in Minneapolis, 50 major pieces from Ernie’s private collection are kicking off their tour! It’s a sight you have to see to believe.
Ovation Framing has teamed up with Ernie, who created the original Rolling Stones’ lips and tongue logo and the ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ graphics and packaging, to offer a trip through time by experiencing an “Original Album Cover Art and Design Process” exhibition, featuring over 50 major collection pieces of original artwork from the Grammy® nominated Pacific Eye and Ear, the #1 album cover design firm from the 1970s and 1980s. The artwork is rare. The craftsmanship exceptional. The mastery of the era’s methods and materials simply astonishing and inspiring.
The extensive collection, the only one of its kind, has never been exhibited before. It has rested, well protected and stored away for 40+ years, consisting of over 300 signed originals. This extraordinary exhibition captures and freezes in time the vinyl LP and album cover art’s “Golden Age” (1970-1985), including many Drew Struzan masterpieces and classic artwork from the other great award winning Pacific Eye & Ear artists including Bill Garland, Carl Ramsey, Joe Garnett, Ingred Haenke, Joe Petagno, and the master of the logo and lettering, PE&E founder Ernie Cefalu himself.
The works on display span the 15+ years Ernie and his team collaborated creating artwork for the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Jefferson Airplane, The Bee Gees, Iron Butterfly, Canned Heat and more. There’s a fabulous exhibit highlighting many of the 11 album packages Ernie created for Alice Cooper over 40 years, including 'Welcome to My Nightmare', 'School's Out,' 'Billion Dollar Babies', ‘Greatest Hits’, ‘From The Inside’, ‘Muscle of Love’ and the recent ‘Old School' box set. Plus, a new exhibit featuring Burton Cummings’ artwork exclusives.
The size, scope, and overall quality of the artifacts uniquely illustrating the creative process from ‘concept to production’ is remarkable. The collection compellingly demonstrates and captures the rarified skills, amazing talents, and exceptional artistry of the young Pacific Eye and Ear (PE&E) artisans - in the midst of the time they were creating the fine art of Rock ‘n Roll and American pop culture.
The exhibition provides a unique walk back in time and magnificent experience. Once you’ve seen and connected with these original works of art, including the artists and processes that brought them to be - you’ll leave in awe with a deep understanding and true appreciation of the scope, skill, and sheer enormous talent that was Pacific Eye and Ear. And you’ll never be the same.
The art tells the story of a band of originals and the profound artistic impact they had on our Rock ‘n Roll culture, that thanks to Ernie and Ovation still lives on today. In tandem with the exhibit, Ernie and Ovation have also announced their plan to virtually extend the experience, enabling attendees, enthusiasts, aficionados, and fans to never be disconnected from their love of album art again with the launch of PacificEyeandEar.com.
The private, invitation-only, World Premiere Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony & Reception for ‘The Fine Art of Rock’ exhibition will be held on July 15, 2013. The event features a presentation of the mayor’s formal proclamation of ‘Alice Cooper Day’ to special guest, rock icon Alice Cooper by city council members Lisa Goodman and Steve Reich, and the Aquatennial royalty.
At 3pm, after the city’s proclamation and welcome remarks, Alice Cooper, Ernie Cefalu and the assembled dignitaries will cut the ceremonial ribbon to officially open the exhibition. Alice Cooper, Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame 2011 Inductee, is on his 2013 ‘Raise The Dead' tour, performing 2 sold-out shows, July 14 and July 15, at the historic State Theatre.
"The Fine Art of Rock: Original Album Artwork from the 70s and 80s". The exhibition starts in Minneapolis, MN at Gallery13 and will be open to the public from July 16-27, 2013. Exhibition hours are: Tue - Sat Noon-7pm. Gallery 13 is located at 811 LaSalle Ave. Minneapolis, MN.
The exhibition is presented by Ernie, Ovation and PacificEyeandEar.com. PacificEyeandEar.com management is in the process of scheduling, site scouting and discussing sponsorship opportunities and arrangements. Sponsors interested in participating in this historic tour, please contact John Borowicz.

Many people have probably seen or heard the news story currently circulating about Paris Jackson, daughter of Michael Jackson, who apparently attempted suicide, and connecting it to the suggestion she was upset after she wasn`t allowed to go to the Alice Cooper/Marilyn Manson show in LA. I wasn`t going to cover this as it's not really an Alice Cooper story, but yesterday a journalist asked Alice about it and this is what he said: “I don’t think the concert was the thing. She’s under a lot pressure right now with this trial. She’s 15 years old. I have two girls, and I know what 15-year-old girls are like. Everything is important. I think she’s just very emotional right now. It’s always going to between what you can do and what you can’t do.”
