Tribute Times November 18, 2021

No big news to report in the last week or so but a few things to cover before they are out of date:

Disturbed singer David Draiman is set to make a guest appearance at Nita Strauss’ Whisky A Go Go show tonight in Hollywood CA. It had to happen at some point after he guested on Nita’s latest single ‘Dead Inside’ and Draiman himself confirmed in on Facebook a couple of days ago. Nita’s new solo album is due soon and will feature guest appearances by a few more of her favourite vocalists.
UPDATE: And here’s video from last night!

A few weeks ago on ‘The Masked Singer’ in the US a character called ‘Jester’ did a surprisingly decent version of ‘School’s Out’. Turns out under the mask was legendary Sex Pistols/PIL vocalist John Lydon, a long time fan of early Alice Cooper. Check out the video here.

There’s another Alice Cooper tribute album on the way but this one could be a little different. It’s called ‘Hail To Hell: An Acoustic Tribute To Alice Cooper’ by Eric McFadden and features a very eclectic selection of songs including ‘Laughing At Me’, ‘Man With The Golden Gun’ and ‘Former Lee Warmer’. It’s out on November 30th and you can order a copy here.

Lastly a reminder of another tribute album released on November 27th called ‘Killer: 50 Years Later’ that recreates the original Killer album and features a bunch of up and coming band doing a great job covering the Cooper classics. You can order and listen to three tracks on the Pale Wizard Records bandcamp page here. You can see the cover below.

News Round Up October 29, 2021

With the tour over the band seem to have relocated to Nashville to finish recording the next album, provisionally titled "Road". Various posts to social media have suggested they have been recording during the tour in various hotel rooms as well. Of course this doesn’t mean a release will be anytime soon but it does look like we will finally get an Alice Cooper album recorded by the current band which is long overdue.

It looks like Alice will be playing at the Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, FL on February 7th in advance of the Monsters Of Rock Cruise. While there’s no official announcement anywhere yet the show is featured in the new venue events leaflet on page 24.

Nita’s new single ‘Dead Inside’ seems to be a hit, reaching #1 on the Billboard hard rock sales chart with over a million streams in the first week! Nita Releases New Single October 15, 2021

Get ready to have your face melted as Nita Strauss releases the first song/video from a forthcoming second solo album. ‘Dead Inside’ features Nita’s first solo song with vocals and she’s brought in Disturbed front man David Draiman to provide that voice on an epic modern metal track which bodes well for the rest of the new album. You can check out the video above or on YouTube. Nita has promised more special guests will appear on the forthcoming record which is due later this year.

Ace Frehley has started to join the Cooper band on stage in the last week for ‘School’s Out’ and you can see video on YouTube. It seems to have happened at three shows in a row so it looks like it will be a regular occurrence for the rest of the tour.

In other tour news Nita was hit by a broken cane at the during the opening number in Charlotte, NC a few days ago! Alice slapped the cane against the stage and the cane snapped, with half of it flying across the stage and hitting Nita in the head! Luckily she was okay, with just a large bruise on her forehead to show for it. Check out the video here at around the 2.30 minute mark.

Alice Cooper will be appearing at the ‘Days of the Dead‘ convention at Crowne Plaza O’Hare in Chicago between November 19th and 21st. Alice will be signing stuff at various times over the weekend so keep an eye on their site for schedule and tickets.

Danzeisen Dairy are releasing a special orange edition of their Alice Cooper milk bottles for Halloween called ‘Orange Scream’ which are apparently in Arizona stores now. Every bottle solid donates money to Alice’s Solid Rock teen centers. Presumably as before there will be a way for non-Arizona residents to get their hands on these collectable bottles at some point.

New Audio Book Out Today October 7, 2021

I mentioned this a couple of weeks ago but there was very little solid information in the announcement I saw, then suddenly it’s here! Today saw the release of Audible’s ‘Alice Cooper: Who I Really Am: The Diary of a Vampire‘, a two hour+ audio book featuring Alice telling his own life story. It’s available now via AmazonUK and AmazonUS and if you aren’t already an Audible member you can probably get it for nothing via their free introductory trial offer (just remember to cancel before the first payment is due).
To launch the audiobook American Songwriter has an interview with Alice talking about it, and they have posted a selection of clips to Soundcloud as well.

Nita Strauss has announced a series of ‘Winter Wasteland’ US shows begin next month in New Orleans. The full list of shows is below. Lastly for now Alice himself turns up on a new track called ‘Alice Cooper’s Nightmare On Surf Street’ by ‘Beachfront Vinny‘ which you can find on Spotify. I know nothing more about it, but Alice does a spoken word intro before it goes into a rap over various horror-type musical themes.

Alice for Graspop October 3, 2021

Alice Cooper has been confirmed as playing at next years Graspop Metal Meeting in Dessel, Belgium on June 19th. Tickets for the festival appear to go on sale later this month.

October 1st was proclaimed ‘Alice Cooper Day’ by Major Tom Barrett in Milwaukee, the day Alice played at the BMO Harris Pavillion. The Major tweeted “The Godfather of shock rock and stage theatrics, Alice Cooper has entertained countless Milwaukee fans since his first Wisconsin show in 1973. I welcome him back to the “good land” today by proclaiming October 1 as “Alice Cooper Day” throughout the City of Milwaukee.”

I think I mentioned a few weeks back that ex-Cooper guitarist Damon Johnson is currently out on the road with Lynyrd Skynyrd standing in for Gary Rossington while he recovers from recent health issues. Damon will also be playing an acoustic opening set at some of these shows before his new band The Get Ready open a few more shows in November. Then in late November Damon and The Get Ready will be in the UK opening for Buckcherry on their UK tour, as well as headlining a show in Glasgow on December 9th. You can find all the details here.

GRASPOP

Back On The Road September 21, 2021

Well, the US tour is up and running and already Alice and the band seem to be firing on all cylinders. As expected this is the same basic stage show as two years ago before the pandemic cut the touring short, but there are three new songs from ‘Detroit Stories’ slotted in during the first half of the set. Lots of videos have appeared on YouTube already of course. The tour is under very strict covid rules with regular testing, masks and distancing (no guest passes/Meet and Greets’s etc) while offstage so we can only hope they continue to stay safe and well for the full tour.

Away from the tour the Detroit street that is being named after Alice has been finalised as “Alice Cooper Court” at Eloise Asylum (30712 Michigan Avenue) in Westland, Michigan. The official unveiling will take place on Thursday September 23rd at 2pm and will be hosted by WCSX DJ Big Jim O’Brien. The ceremony will also feature an appearance by tribute act ‘The Nightmare’.
For anyone is interested you can find out more about the Eloise Asylum on Wikipedia. It certainly seems an apt location for Alice Cooper Court!

Alice’s appearance at the London Film and Comic Con in November has unsurprisingly been cancelled (again). However it seems that currently no refunds are being offered as they are trying to re-book Alice for a later date.

Alice and Rock & Brews restaurants have launched a ‘Poison Burger’ which features Alice’s branded ‘Poison Reaper’ hot sauce. Alice has recorded a short promo for the burger and you can see that, and see if there is a Rock & Brews Burger joint near you (US only), on AC.com.

Atlantic City Weekly has a new interview with Alice, but it’s blocked outside of the US. Luckily AC.com have you covered for this as well so you can read it here.

Chuck Garric posted a short video to facebook, saying he’s just finished recording Alice’s vocal for a new Desmond Child (Trash/Hey Stoopid etc) song while on the road. This could be for Child’s solo album which Child first talked about a long time ago, or maybe it’s for something different! Chuck, of course, is an experienced recording engineer, and records the Alice’s chat for the ‘Nights With Alice Cooper’ radio show while they’re out on tour.

‘Brutal Planet’ is being released again on double vinyl by eONE, mastered at 45rpm for the first time. It’s due out on November 26th as part of the Black Friday Record Store Day and comes on “color in color” vinyl.

Ryan Roxie sat down ‘In The Trenches‘ with Ex-Coop Eric Dover for a long chat last week which you can check out here. He also posted a ‘Tour Kick Off‘ episode with several clips from the pre-tour rehearsals. Next up on Friday at 5pm (UK) Ryan will be chatting to Glen Hughes and Doug Aldrich of The Dead Daisies.

Lastly Wes Payton has a book out which features a rock star character which, as a fan, he naturally based on Uncle Alice. It’s called ‘House Painter Pirate Hunter’ and you can find out more on AmazonUS or AmazonUK. In the UK it’s free if you have KindleUnlimited.

Alice is featured on the next episode of ‘Rock My Collection’ on AXS TV in the US which airs on Sunday evening. You can check out the trailer here.

The East Valley Tribune has a new short interview with Alice but unfortunately they don’t want anyone outside the US to read it.

Alice will serve as a Fiesta Bowl Parade grand marshal when the Desert Financial Fiesta Bowl Parade hits Central Phoenix in Arizona on December 18th. The parade "honors an individual or group whose actions align with the Fiesta Bowl’s commitment to driving economic growth, championing charitable causes and executing innovative experiences." Alice appeared on Arizona’s Fox10 news for the announcement.

I mentioned the new Official Alice Cooper Colouring Book already a month or so back, but if you’ve yet to get your hands on a copy you may be in luck. Rock’n’Roll Colouring have kindly offered us a couple of copies to give away to two lucky winners of this very simple competition. Simply pick an Alice Cooper song lyric which mentions a colour, and email it with the subject "Competition", and your name, to ‘si @ sickthingsuk.co.uk’ (removing the gaps). Most obscure/unique lyric will win a copy of the book. Simple. Entries will close next Friday and I’ll contact the winners directly for addresses etc.

Detroit Signing August 28, 2021

Alice Cooper is set to be signing copies of ‘Detroit Stories’ on September 23rd at Rock City Music in Livonia, MI between 4.30 and 6.30 local time. To attend you have to buy a ticket for $25, but this does includes a copy of ‘Detroit Stories’ on either CD/DVD or vinyl. Only copies of the new album will be signed, and there will be no posed photos. All attendees will need proof of vaccination or a negative covid test. Get all there details here.

Word is getting out that ALL VIP meet and greet packages for the upcoming US tour have apparently been cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic. If you haven’t received an email yet be patient, you’ll likely be contacted closer to your show. Fans are being offered three options: 1. A partial refund, but you still get the VIP bag and contents, 2. a partial refund down to just the price of your ticket, or 3. a full refund. The first option seems to be the default unless you contact them and request one of the others.
This shouldn’t really come as any great surprise, as currently numerous US tours are being cancelled or postponed on a daily basis, as members of either bands or crews are testing positive after a few shows. Currently it seems the Cooper shows are still on, but make sure you continue to keep an eye on venue sites as obviously this could change.

Alice posted a short statement and video a couple of days ago, commenting of the sad death of legendary Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts:

“We have lost one of rock and roll’s true gentlemen. Charlie Watts kept the beat for the world’s greatest rock band for over 50 years. I consider him the greatest pocket drummer of all time. Every time I would go backstage to see The Rolling Stones, Charlie was the first to greet me. He will be sorely missed and impossible to replace but I’ve no doubt The Stones will go on. My message to Charlie? Rest In Beat!”
– Alice Cooper

According to Rolling Stone Alice will be taking part in Audible’s new ‘Words + Music’ storytelling series. The AC edition will be released on October 7th and entitled: ‘Who I Really Am: The Diary of a Hollywood Vampire‘, “where he’ll not only share tales from his lengthy career, but ‘introduce’ fans to the person that created and crafted the Alice Cooper persona.”

Ryan Roxie is interviewed by ‘Slasher Pepper’ in a new video posted to YouTube.

US TV This Week August 19, 2021

Alice Cooper will be the subject of ‘Breaking The Band’ on ‘Reelz’ TV Channel in the US this Sunday (Aug 22nd) at 9PM EST. It looks like it will be a basic documentary with various ‘talking heads’ discussing AC history, although going by the trailer it looks like it will concentrate on Alice alone and not the band. You can see the trailer here.

In other US TV news Alice will be back on ‘Counting Cars’ as the new season began this week. You may remember at the end of the last season Alice appeared and brought one of his cars to the custom car garage for work. This new episode will show the results. The new season starts on August 25th and it would make sense for this first episode to conclude the AC story. You can see a trailer for this here.

Alice appears on the front cover of the latest Sept/Oct issue of UK mag ‘Sorted’ with a 6 page article inside which is manly about golf and religion.

Ryan Roxie makes an appearance on the new single by Swedish band ‘Fans Of The Dark’

Alice Cooper will be performing at the Grand Opening of the new ‘Solid Rock’ Teen Center in Mesa, AZ on September 3rd, backed by the ‘Solid Rock Band’. The event runs from 5.30pm-8pm local time, when visitors will also be able to tour the new center. This is the second teen center set up by Alice and Sheryl Cooper’s Solid Rock charity, the first being in Phoenix.

Alice’s set from Wacken a few years ago will be shown as part of the W.O.A. BBQ today at around 6PM UK time. Presumably this will be a version of the ‘Raise The Dead: Live From Wacken’ film.

Ryan Roxie’s next guest on ‘In The Trenches’ will be his old stage buddy Keri Kelli, who is now playing with Nightranger. Listen in on Tuesday at 5pm UK time.

Alice was at the ‘Day of the Dead’ event in Indianapolis last week for signings, photos, and a Q&A which you can now watch on YouTube.

August 27th sees the release of ‘The Official Alice Cooper Colouring Book’ by Eyesore Merchandising. "Featuring iconic artwork from classic albums and other instantly recognizable images, all printed on high quality paper, in a square format, fully endorsed and officially licenced, these killer designs have the potential for hours of satisfying colouring in." New Swedish Festival Date July 24, 2021

Another festival date seems to have been announced for next year. Alice will be headlining the ‘Atlas Rock‘ festival in Sweden on June 4th. Tickets go on sale Monday. So far he seems to be the only act announced for the festival.

CBC in Canada have a new interview with Alice, talking about ‘Detroit Stories’ and the early Detroit scene.

Beasto Blanco are releasing their recent ‘Freakstream’ webcast on Blu-Ray in mid-August. This version of the film will feature footage not included on the original streaming version of the show, and initial copies will be signed by the band. Be warned however that if you are ordering from the UK shipping and customs charges are likely to cost as much as the disc itself!

Ryan Roxie was interviewed on the ‘2020’d’ podcast a couple of days ago and you can check it out here.

New Shows July 16, 2021

Some tour news this week. The Farmingville, NY show set for September 22nd has been cancelled, and replaced by a show in Utica, NY at ‘The Stanley‘ on the same day. Tickets for the new show went on public sale today.

Additionally Alice has been announced as headlining the ‘Rock The Ring‘ festival in Hinwil, Switzerland on June 18th next year. This is the second European festival to be announced for next June so expect more shows to follow.

Damon Johnson’s new band ‘The Get Ready’ have a series of shows coming up from July 24th in Richmond, IN. including a run of UK shows with Buckcherry at the end of the year. Check out all the dates here. The bands album ‘Battle Lessons’ is out now.

Catching Up July 7, 2021

It’s still very quiet in Cooperland but here’s a few things to cover before they become too out of date.

Alice turned up, backed by Dash and CO-OP, to performed the half-time show at the Phoenix Suns basketball match last week and you can see footage here or below. They played ‘No More Mr Nice Guy’ and ‘School’s Out.’

Alice Plays Hellfest 2022 June 18, 2021

Alice Cooper has been announced as headlining the second stage at next years Hellfest in Clisson, France on June 24th. The festival will run over two weekends and a total of 7 nights, with an amazing line up of bands scheduled to play including Metallica, Guns’n’Roses, Nine Inch Nails, Scorpions, Faith No More, Judas Priest, Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Megadeth, and literally hundreds of others. Honestly it looks easier to list the major bands that won’t be there! Tickets go on sale in July.

From our point of view this suggests Alice will likely be playing other festivals in Europe next summer.

The London Film and Comic Con has announced Alice as a guest at the Olympia between November 19th and 21st. He’ll be there doing autographs and photos at various times over the weekend but beware it won’t be cheap. Autographs are £65 with photos another £75, and that doesn’t include the price of entry to the show. An autograph, photo and "gift" pass will set you back £175!!
Alice was set to appear at this event back in 202 but obviously it was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Dennis Dunaway plays on the forthcoming single by UK band TBelly called ‘I Never Want To See Me Again’. The single is due out in July 16th and if you use Spotify you can pre-save it now so you don’t forget.

Nita Strauss will be making an appearance at the Tacoma Guitar and Drum festival in Tacoma, WA on Sunday June 27th. Tickets are on sale now. This is a guitar clinic, not a proper live show.

Ryan Roxie’s next guest of ‘In The Trenches’ on June 22nd will be ex-Alice and Lou Reed guitarist Steve Hunter! You can set a reminder here,

Catching Up June 7, 2021

Maybe it’s just me, but since the announcement of the US tour for September it’s seems to have been pretty quiet on the Cooper front, but here’s what has come in since then:

Alice and Sheryl Cooper will be appearing on Facebook Live with AC tribute band ‘Almost Cooper‘ on June 12th at 7om CST (1AM UK time). Almost Cooper seem to do quite a bit to raise money for Alice’s Solid Rock and seem to have a pretty accurate stage show. Check out the clips here.

Alice was at Bernie Taupin’s 71st birthday bash on May 23rd in Los Angeles along with Bernie’s long time writing partner Sir Elton John, and they took the chance to recreate a famous photograph taken at Bernie’s 21st birthday bash, with ‘Will & Grace’ actor Eric McCormack standing in for the deceased Paul Lynde. You check out the pic on instagram.

On May 26th Alice joined guitarist Joe Bonamassa for a great hour long interview on Joe’s ‘Live from Nerdville’ video podcast which you can check out on YouTube here.

Another news story that has been all over the place in the last few days is that the Andy Warhol “Little Electric Chair” print Alice found in his garage a while back is going to be auctioned by the Larsen Gallery in Arizona. So if you have a few spare millions sitting around, here’s your chance! The gallery has placed an estimate on the print around $2.5 million to $4.5 million!! A percentage of profits will go to Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock charity. – AZCentral also has a report.

Dennis and Cindy Dunaway’s appearance on the Alexxis Steele Podcast can be seen here, but make sure you put aside some time to watch it all as it’s nearly 2 hours long!

Listen To The Electric Ballroom May 11, 2021

A couple of weeks ago Alice Cooper and Dennis Dunaway appeared on Keith Roth’s ‘Electric Ballroom‘ show, but unless you managed to listen in live (difficult with the US/Europe time differences) you missed it, as it hasn’t been posted online… until now. Courtesy of Electric Ballroom Radio and Keith Roth, below you can listen to the show which originally aired  April 25th 2021.

Courtesy of Electric Ballroom Radio, Originally Aired 4-25-21

Alice was on BBC Radio 6’s Liz Kershaw show recently and they have posted video of the interview over on facebook.

He was also interviewed on the ‘Metal From The Inside’ podcast which you can watch on YouTube.

Dennis and Cindy Dunaway will be on the Alexxis Steele’s ‘Music 101’ show tonight (May 10th) at 9PM EDT which you can watch live at YouTube. Presumably it will be available to watch on their channel afterwards.

One to watch for in the future: Bank Side Films are in post-production on a new film called ‘Dali Land’ which "tells the story of the later years of the strange and fascinating marriage between the genius Salvador Dalí and his tyrannical wife, Gala. Set in New York and Spain in 1973, the story is told through the eyes of James, a young assistant keen to make his name in the art world, who helps the eccentric and mercurial Dalí prepare for a big gallery show." Of interest to us is that they DO plan to feature Alice Cooper and the famous Hologram, with actor Mark McKenna playing Alice. You can keep track on this here.

Go Wings Go May 1, 2021

Alice Cooper has just released a new video for ‘Go Man Go’ from ‘Detroit Stories’ but with revised lyrics reflecting his love of Detroit Red Wings hockey team. It’s called ‘Go Wings Go‘ and you can see it below. Obviously Alice is well known as a sports fan having been sighted at baseball, football, and hockey games in the past, not to mention a few boxing matches. Can’t help wondering of his actual home town of Phoenix, where he grew up, started a band, and has lived most of his life, is feeling a little unloved recently!

Also newish is a ‘bonus episode’ of the ‘Alice Cooper’s Vintage Vault‘ podcast with Alice talking to William Shatner on ‘Nights With Alice Cooper’.

Alice turned up on CBS Detroit’s ‘Michigan Matters’ for a short zoom interview which you can watch here and there’s an interview in the Detroit Free Press.

Autoweek‘ has a story about Alice’s old 1963 ‘Studebaker Avanti’ which was apparently previously owned by a KGB spy!

Dennis Dunaway makes an appearance on Lydia Lunch’s podcast ‘Lydian Spin‘ around 20 minutes into the show. Lydia Lunch has frequently covered ‘Black Juju’ over the years in her live shows and it’s featured on her album ‘Shotgun Wedding’ from 1991.

Joe Bonamassa interviews Nita Strauss on his ‘Live from Nerdsville‘ podcast.

New Interviews April 25, 2021

Alice Cooper played his first live show in over a year last night for the ‘CoopStock’ show in aid of ‘Solid Rock’. I was hoping some more info would come in today as to what actually happened but so far haven`t seen anything useful. There was a post that seemed to suggest Chuck Garric was in Phoenix a couple of days ago so maybe that suggests he may have been there. Dash Cooper’s CO-OP were certainly there, as were Brent Fitz and Tommy Thayer. More when I get it!

The Monsters Of Rock Cruise’ to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic that was scheduled for May before being cancelled, has been rescheduled for February 9th-14th 2022 with Alice Cooper still headlining. This time it looks like it’s a proper cruise (rather then a beach party) and you can get more info here.

A reminder that Alice and Dennis Dunaway will be together on WRAT 95.9 tonight with Keith Roth 8-10pm EST time. This will be repeated on May 2nd.

Alice was on Fox 2 Detroit this week for a short interview, talking about the Cooper Tire contest, as well as WTKR’s ‘Coast Live’ and ‘Good Day Rochester‘. He’s also been chatting to AZCentral about the contest as well as his covid situation and CoopStock.

Cooper Tires? April 18, 2021

Alice has teamed up with the ‘Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.’ "to scour the nation and identify three talented American garage bands.” The three band finalists were asked to submit an original song, plus a cover of ‘Under My Wheels’ and you can check out their versions at the official site here. Alice also recorded a promo video for the event which is quite amusing. Not quite sure where they originally advertised this thing as this is the first we’re hearing of it and they are already down to the final three… There’s also an Alice-hosted free livestream performance from Evanescence on May 13th at which the winner of the competition will play an opening set.

The annual Detroit Music Awards named ‘Our Love Will Change The World’ as "best national single" and ‘best major budget video’ at last weeks ceremony, while ‘Rock’n’Roll’ was also nominated. Alice briefly appeared on the livestreamed show at around the 1.46 mark, after which Suzi Quatro announces ‘Rock’n’Roll’ as winning the ‘national single’ award! The awards website however confirms it was
‘Our Love Will Change The World’.

Alice will be a guest on ‘Liz Kershaw’s Legends In Their Own Lunchtime’ on BBC Radio 6Music on April 25th at 1PM. Afterwards you will be able to listen to it here.

There’s another new Alice Cooper book just out but this one is different. It’s a ‘Where’s Wally’ style book with cool Cooper themed colour illustrations for you to search out Uncle Alice. You can see illustrations here, and it is listed on AmazonUK but so far they don`t seem to have any available.

Dennis Dunaway and Blue Coupe were guests on ‘Talk Shop Live’ on the Rock’n’Roll Channel last Thursday and you can watch the hour long show now here.

Alice and Dennis Dunaway’s appearance on ‘Keith Roth’s Electric Ballroom’ has been postponed to Sunday April 25th at 8pm EST, and will be repeated May 2nd. You’ll find it here.

Coopstock! April 10, 2021

Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock have announced ‘Coopstock’, a one day live event on April 24th at Las Sendas Golf Club in Phoenix. To quote the press release:" Join Alice Cooper for CoopStock – Music on the Green on Saturday, April 24th at Las Sendas Golf Club from 6 to 11 p.m.! Alice will be joined by Lou Gramm, the original voice of Foreigner, Tommy Thayer of Kiss, and ASIA featuring John Payne for a groovy night under the stars featuring live entertainment, food trucks, auctions, and more, all to benefit the new Alice Cooper Rock Teen Center opening May 2021 in Mesa!" This will be Alice’s first live appearance since the ‘Rock Meets Classic’ collapsed last year due to the Covid crisis. It’s unclear if the band will be there or whether he’ll be using local musicians which seems more likely. Tickets are available here.

The recent Classic Rock interview with Alice is now online here. He also shows up for an hour on the ‘Sex, Drugs, Rock’n’Roll Show’ which you can listen to here.

Alice and Dennis Dunaway will be guests on ‘Keith Roth’s Electric Ballroom’ next Sunday (18th) on WRAT 95.9 at 8PM EST. You’ll be able to listen in here.
UPDATE: Postponed to Sunday April 25th, repeated May 2nd.

It will be free to watch (donations encouraged) and you can get more info here.

He was on WNNX-FM which you can listen to here, the ‘Mistress Carrie Podcast’ which is here, and the ‘Neil Jones Rock Show’ on TotalRock which is here at around 1.03 mark. There’s also a new print interview at Grammy.com, and Alice picks his favourite 80s tracks for the BBC which you can find on YouTube.

Two new magazine covers to watch for in the UK are the new issues of ‘Viva Le Rock‘ and ‘Powerplay‘.

Vampires Tour Cancelled March 22, 2021

The postponed European Hollywood Vampires Tour due to take place this August has been officially cancelled. A statement posted to social media states “We are beyond disappointed to announce that the HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES must cancel our rescheduled UK/European tour this Summer. We kept trying to make it happen, but unfortunately due to the uncertainty of COVID-19 travel restrictions, it is just not possible. Full refunds will be honored through your original point of purchase. Thank you for understanding, and we WILL be back rocking with you once the world returns to normal!”

Interviews March 19, 2021

Phoenix New Times has a new interview with Alice, as does Australia’s ‘May The Rock Be With You‘ and ‘Flood‘ magazine.

Also Australia’s ‘Heavy‘ magazine has Alice on the cover and a new interview during which Alice again talks about the next album featuring the current band.

Louder‘ has Alice answering questions that were apparently sent in on facebook. Many other news sites have picked up on Alice’s answer about his relationship with David Bowie. Alice is quoted as saying:

“David used to come to the show when he was a mime artist, he was Davy Jones back then. I remember at one of our Welcome To My Nightmare shows, he brought his band the Spiders From Mars and he was saying, ‘This is what we should be doing.’

This is basically correct of course, but unfortunately Alice has the time period wrong. Years ago in his biography ex-Spiders bassist Trevor Bolder talked about this happening but it was in 1971 at The Rainbow in London, not four years later on the 1975 ‘…Nightmare’ tour. This mistake is unfortunate in that it is easy for people to just discount Alice’s statement as false (The Spider’s From Mars were long gone by 1975) when in fact the basic story, according to several sources, is true.

According to a post on facebook Alice will be a guest at the ‘Days Of The Dead‘ convention at the Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas between May 14th and 16th. The organizers seem to be doing everything they can to make the event safe during this pandemic and tickets are on sale now. Of course as with anything at the moment it could be postponed or cancelled at any time.

Alice’s appearance on the BBC Radio 2 ‘Rock Show with Johnnie Walker’ can be heard here for the next months or so. The Alice section isn’t very long and starts around 35 minutes into the show with him talking about Jeff Beck.

Alice also showed up for 20 minutes on the ‘Jim Kerr Rock’n’Roll Morning Show’ on Q104.3 which you can listen to here.

AZCentral has a long article marking the 50th anniversary of ‘Love It To Death’ looking at the Alice Cooper band through the years with quotes from the band and some rare photos. They also have an article ranking the 28 Alice Cooper studio albums which has a few surprises.

Far Out‘ has Alice picking musicians for his ultimate band. The choices aren’t exactly a surprise – half ‘The Who’ and half The Beatles’ and add in Jeff Beck.

Dennis Dunaway was on radio station CFMU for almost an hour the other night and you can listen to the show online here.

The latest ‘In The Trenches’ podcast from Ryan Roxie features the "Metal God" himself, Rob Halford and can be seen on YouTube now with some bonus footage tacked on the end.

Nita Strauss is interviewed for an hour on the ‘Daily Stoic’ podcast which you can check out here.

#1 In Germany! March 9, 2021

First week chart positions are coming in from around the world with the best being a #1 placing in the German charts! The UK mid-week #2 ended up as a #4 (although it’s been suggested it actually sold the most physical copies) and Billboard in the US have tweeted that while ‘Detroit Stories’ was the ‘top selling album‘ of last week, that only equaled #47 in the official ‘top 200 albums’. Work that one out…
Elsewhere the album entered at #17 in Belgium, #51 in The Netherlands, #7 in Sweden and #39 in Italy.

There’s been some speculation whether the images posted to the official AC channel of the Alice Cooper projections in various cities around Europe are genuine… well they were, and here’s a little clip of how they are doing it!

New Alice interviews have turned up at Loyola Phoenix, The Sun, and NPR (audio).

Ultimate Guitar have an article about ‘Love It To Death’ which was released 50 years ago this week.

2021 will also be the 50th anniversary of ‘Killer’ and Pale Wizard Records will be marking the event with an all new recreation of that original album featuring some of the best new underground bands including The Grand Mal tackling ‘Be My Lover’, Sergeant Thunderhoof on ‘Halo of Flies’ and Mos Generator with ‘Dead Babies’. The album also features 1968, Trippy Wicked and the Cosmic Children of the Night, Admiral Sir Cloudesley Shovell and Ritual King. A Kickstarter campaign will launch this Friday to help fund the project, and the album is scheduled to be released in November.

Something new on YouTube worth checking out is professionally filmed footage of the full 2017 Los Angeles Greek Theatre show during the AC/Deep Purple US tour. The sound isn’t perfect but the multi-camera video is excellent and in HD!

Those of you who don’t regularly check out the STUK forums may want to drop in again and check out ‘Dr. Dreary’s Secret Dungeon’. where Alice Cooper founder and Hall of Fame inductee Dennis Dunaway is answering YOUR questions about Alice Cooper, The Earwigs, The Nazz, Blue Coupe, and anything else he’s done during his career. A great opportunity to finally get the answers to all of your questions direct from a guy who would know them!

Detroit Stories Midweek Placing March 3, 2021

‘Detroit Stories’ has been out just under a week now and seems to be doing pretty well. It currently stands at #2 in the official UK mid-week album charts (and #1 for actual physical sales) and is doing similarly well in other countries. Noise11 are reporting it could be Alice’s first #1 in Australia!

Alice has been all over the press and TV in the last few days. Even as I was preparing this post he suddenly appeared on the TV, on BBC1’s ‘The One Show’ for a short interview. It’s available now on iPlayer.
You can also check out the following:

Alice’s full interview on GMTV here.
The Guardian in the UK had an interview.
The Detroit Free Press and the Detroit Metro Times both have features.
Rolling Stone
has a album review.
NME have a video interview.
AV Club asks Alice "11 Questions"
The Telegraph has an interview but it paywalled, however it seems to have been republished here.
The Irish Times has an interview.
The NZ Herald has a recent interview from ‘Radio Hauraki’.
Radio station KKLZ’s ‘Rock Talking with Meltdown‘ has a podcast featuring Alice.

Coming up Alice will be on the Radio 2 Rock Show on Saturday March 13th which will turn up here after broadcast.

New Alice magazine covers to add to the collection include Metal Hammer in Spain, and ‘Spark‘ in the Czech Republic. Sadly the UK has been poor in this regard with Classic Rock putting Pink Floyd on the cover. despite having an 8 page article about ‘Detroit Stories’ inside.

At the weekend the band, including Alice and Sheryl, took part in a very special episode of Ryan Roxie’s ‘In The Trenches’ and boy was it a blast. Apart from being VERY funny, producer Bob Ezrin also showed up to announce that they are already working on the NEXT Alice Cooper album, which at long last will be written and performed by the current band! The plan is to write and record it on the road during the next tour, and in fact Alice is toying with the idea of calling it "The Road", or just "Road". Hopefully he’ll come up with something better… Chuck also revealed that he’s already writing material for both this and a new Beasto Blanco album. Of course plans can always change, but the fact they are already talking about it publicly is a good sign it will happen! Check out the full show on YouTube.

Dennis Dunaway and Blue Coupe can be seen in a new video by occasional Blue Coupe backing singers Tish and Snooky. It’s a version of ‘Pills’ in tribute to New York Dolls guitarist Sylvain Sylvain who died a few weeks ago. You can check out the video here. Dennis is also interviewed by the ‘Metal From The Inside’ podcast which you can see on YouTube.

Nita Strauss has posted a video highlighting her new ‘Jiva Jr’ guitar, a budget version of her own signature Jiva guitars.

Chuck Garric turns up singing Alice In Chains classic ‘Would!’ in a new video and it’s amazing!

Even More Stories February 25, 2021

With just a few hours to go before ‘Detroit Stories’ is officially available (presumably streaming from midnight in your region) there’s even more coverage to report before it gets lost.

I’ve already mentioned it, but worth a reminder that Alice will be doing a livestream album launch tonight (2AM UK) over at TalkShipLive. Not exactly sure what it will involve but could be cool.

Alice will be "taking over" radio station Triple M Rock tomorrow at 9PM local Australian time (you’ll have to work that one out yourself) to mark the release of the new record, and they promise Alice "playing his favourite songs and doing whatever he wants!"… so that would be playing golf? It will be available via their website and local DAB radio.

Alice was on BBC radio this afternoon with Steve Wright and you can hear that short interview at around the 2 hours 36 mark here. He’ll be back on the BBC on Saturday around 6.15 on Radio 4 during the ‘Loose Ends‘ show.

Alice, Dennis, Neal and Michael have all recorded material for a show on ‘Foo Fighters Radio’ SIRIUSXM Channel 105 that celebrates the 50th Anniversary of ‘Love It To Death’. Presented by Foos’ Pat Smear and Chris Shiflett it will premiere on March 11th at 2PM ET, with repeats each day for the next week at various times. Unfortunately you need a subscription to hear it.

The new issue of Spanish magazine ‘Ruta 66’ has Alice on the cover and an article inside.

There’s been three (so far) short official videos posted featuring Alice talking about ‘Detroit Stories’ which you can see on YouTube. They are "Rock Hard Capital", "Where’s The Party?" and "The Myth".

There’s also new articles/interviews over at Ultimate Classic Rock (with Alice talking about the Detroit bands that influenced the new album), at Stack HiFI in Australia which will also be featured in their free print magazine next week, Inside Hook, WDET Culture Shift, and an interview video on Yahoo Entertainment.

Fancy a personal 20 minute personal video call with Alice? Then get your credit card out! ‘Sports Dinner Auctions‘ is offering exactly that to one lucky bidder and you have 6 days left to bid.

Ryan Roxie was interviewed on "Fields & Friends" for over and hour the other day and you can see that on YouTube.

Live Band Meeting Saturday February 24, 2021

Set aside whatever you were going to do this Saturday, February 27th (8PM UK/3PM EST), as the entire Alice Cooper Band invites you to sit in on their live-stream ‘Band Meeting’ as they catch up on what each of them have been up to, and quite possibly drop some ‘Easter eggs’ of what’s coming up in 2021. And by "entire" we mean Ryan, Tommy, Nita, Glen, Chuck AND Alice and Sheryl Cooper! This promises to be a real "one off" event and you can watch it free on YouTube.

Meanwhile reviews of ‘Detroit Stories’ are now turning up all over the place, so if you need to know what a journalist thinks check out: Charlotte Observer, First Post, Metal Hammer, Vinyl Chapters, Riff Magazine, Wall of Sound, and Ghost Cult to name a few.

There’s also new interviews at the Detroit News, and American Songwriter.

More Detroit Tales February 22, 2021

Lots of interviews are appearing now in the run up to ‘Detroit Stories’ on Friday. New ones have appeared at Forbes Magazine, and the Boston Herald.

Alice was also on the BBC 6 ‘Radcliffe and Marconie’ show yesterday morning and you can listen in around the 1.36 mark for the next month or so here.

Alice and Dennis Dunaway have recorded a zoom interview with Keith Roth for Sirius radio’s channel 38 ‘Ozzy’s Boneyard’ which is due to air on February 27th at 11am EST, with repeats at 7pm on March 1st and 9pm March 3rd. The show will apparently also be available on demand.

Alice is on two more European magazine covers, this time it’s ‘Rock Hard‘ from Germany, and ‘Popular 1‘ from Spain.

Watchonista‘ have an article about Alice’s collection of watches.

I mentioned a couple of months ago that Sickthing Chris Sutton has a new book on ‘Alice Cooper in the 70s’ on the way. Well, it now has a confirmed publication date of March 28th and can be pre-ordered from AmazonUK with AmazonUS to follow. Below is the official blurb for the book, plus the cover.

"In Alice Cooper In The 1970s, Chris Sutton, explores the story of Alice Cooper the band and the solo performer from the early years through to the end of the decade.

The book features interview material from key figures including Michael Bruce, Dennis Dunaway and Neal Smith from the original band, plus their hired gun Mick Mashbir. Also interviewed are Prakash John, John Tropea and Allan Schwartzberg from the solo years, and Ernie Cefalu, whose company Pacific Eye and Ear designed the album covers Several other musicians, concert promoters and even the band’s first roadie have also contributed their thoughts.
All of the albums and singles from Don’t Blow Your Mind, until From The Inside are examined in detail, along with related archive releases and songs that didn’t make the cut.
An essential guide to Alice Cooper in the decade the band helped to define."

Detroit News February 18, 2021

Things are definitely gearing up for ‘Detroit Stories’ now with several new interviews appearing including The Independent, Noise11 (video), Metal Hammer (In the new issue), Pasadena Weekly, Kerrang!, and Kansas City Pitch. Alice was also on Australia’s ‘Studio 10’ yesterday for a short interview which you can see here or embedded below.

There’s a new two minute promo video for the album which features a short clip of ‘Shut Up And Rock’ along with Alice chatting about the album. In fact there are 30 second preview clips of the whole album up now at MediaMarkt in the Netherlands if you just can’t wait another week.
UPDATE: Just after posting this an official preview of the album appeared here which I’ve also added below.

According to TalkShopLive it appears Alice will be launching the new album online with a livestream interview on February 25th (2AM on the 26th UK time). It appears to be free so don’t miss it!

The news of Alice and Sheryl getting vaccinated has been covered pretty widely. AZ Big Media has a different photo and a couple of AC quotes.

Chuck Garric was interviewed by Czech site Frontman.cz which Google translates here. It’s not the greatest translation (Alice seems to change sex in the course of a sentence) but you get the gist.

One I missed earlier is a short interview from Phoenix restaurant ‘Los Sombreros’ on Alice’s birthday from AZTV7 with updates on the new Teen Centre in Mesa, AZ.

Alice Cooper Court February 11, 2021

With just two weeks to go until ‘Detroit Stories’ things are starting to move. During an interview with Detroit station WCSX it was announced that Alice will be getting his own road somewhere in the city called "Alice Cooper Court’. Host Jim O’Brien announced the news as a special birthday present to Coop. The exact location is yet to be decided and they are running a competition to choose the right spot.

There’s a new Alice interview in Spin magazine, and AZCentral has a video of Alice confirming that he and Sheryl have now been vaccinated against the Covid virus, having contracted it themselves late last year. German magazine ‘Rocks‘ (which looks very much like a version of the UK’s ‘Classic Rock’) is another European mag to have Alice on their cover this month.

Variety has a short article about being sober in the music business and it has a few quotes from Alice.

Dennis Dunaway is the star of a new advert for RotoSound strings which should be appearing in musicians magazines any time now. You can see the advert below. DD is also interviewed by Max1on1 which is available via Facebook.

Dennis and Blue Coupe will also feature during the Valentine’s Day virtual tribute show to New York Dolls guitarist Sylvain Sylvain who died last month age 69. Tickets for the livestream are on sale now here.

Ryan Roxie’s latest ‘In The Trenches’ guest was ex-Alice keyboardist Teddy Zig-Zag, and you can watch what happened here.

Nita Strauss is featured on the January cover of ‘Recovery Today‘ magazine, a "Addiction, Sobriety and Recovery" magazine.

Glen Sobel is interviewed by North Wales Drum Productions which you can watch on Facebook.

Lastly there is a new movie due out on digital platforms in a couple of days called "School’s Out Forever". It’s a comedy horror film which looks amusing, and while the trailer doesn’t feature the song there can be little doubt where they got the title from, so surely it will play at some point?

Social Debris February 4, 2021

This morning Alice marked his birthday with the third “single” from ‘Detroit Stories’ which appeared on the official Alice Cooper YouTube account. Written by Alice, Bob Ezrin and Neal Smith, and with an obvious tip of the hat to ‘Elected’, it features original Cooper band members Neal, Dennis Dunaway and Michael Bruce on drums, bass and guitar respectively. ‘Detroit Stories’ is due February 26th, although I’ve heard reports that Amazon in the USA is notifying people who pre-ordered that the special edition box set has been delayed by a week.
UPDATE: You can officially download the song for free here.

In a new interview this week with EW it’s revealed both Alice and Sheryl Cooper were diagnosed with COVID-19 in late 2020 but that both made a full recovery: “We had it at the same time, which was great, because we could commiserate.”

Alice turned up on a new ‘advert’ for Uber Eats, the food delivery. Alice appears twice in the two and a half hour(!) video which features Mike Myers and Dana Carvey, as Wayne and Garth from ‘Waynes World’, watching a list of all the Uber Eats restaurants scroll past on screen, and occasionally doing something amusing. You kinda need to see it to understand, which you can do on Youtube here. This link should take you to Alice’s first appearance, with him turning up again around the 2.20 mark near the end.

Other new interviews have been appearing in the European music press. Alice features on the front covers of ‘Hard Rock’ in both Italy and France (presumably translations of the same article) and ‘Rock and Folk‘ in France. There’s also an article in the new issue of ‘Uncut‘ in the UK.

‘Talkulture interviews drummer Glen Sobel for an hour or so which you can see on YouTube.

Dash Cooper and CO-OP have a new single out. It’s called ‘Lie To Me’ and can be found here, and apparently features a guest appearance from Tommy Henriksen.

Catching Up January 22, 2021

Another very quiet couple of weeks in Cooper-world. There’s not been much happening but here’s a few things to check out.

Alice has obviously been doing interviews to lead up to ‘Detroit Stories’ next month and a few have started to appear. AZCentral have a new interview revealing that Neal Smith, Dennis Dunaway and Michael Bruce appear twice on the album, on ‘Social Debris’ (co-written by Neal) and ‘I Hate You’ (co-written by Dennis). There’s an article in the March issue of ‘Uncut‘ in the UK and Alice appears on the front cover of the new issue ‘Rock and Folk‘. There also a substantial article in the new issue of ‘Sweden Rock‘, The last two in their local languages of course.

Rolling Stone have published a great article about the legendary 1971 press party at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles that was used to launch Alice Cooper on the unsuspecting public.

Neal Smith is interviewed by ‘ChurchOfRock’ on YouTube, while Dennis Dunaway was chatting to ‘IndiePower’ which is also up on YouTube. And to complete the original band make sure you didn’t miss Michael Bruce chatting to Ryan Roxie for ‘In The Trenches‘. In related (pun intended) news Calico Cooper has been talking to ‘Metal From The Inside’ which you can find here.
